Mild, temporary sensitivity to hot or cold drinks is common after any deep gum treatment. This happens because removing the hard tartar deposits sometimes leaves the root surfaces temporarily exposed to the elements. This sensitivity usually fades over a few weeks as the gums heal and reattach. We can also apply specialized desensitizing agents at the clinic if needed.
