When should I schedule my child's first visit to the dentist?

As soon as your child’s first tooth comes in – around age one –is typically the time you should start taking them to a paediatric dentist. Taking your child to their first dentist appointment at an early age will create good habits. By catching any developing conditions early, our paediatric dentist will be able to diagnose and treat them effectively. They will do what they can to ensure your baby is set up to have a healthy smile for life. If you decide to put off their appointment, it is likely that their oral health will suffer. Keeping baby teeth healthy is important, even if they are temporary; the back teeth actually stay in the mouth until kids are about 10 to 12 years old. If no teeth appear within your child’s first 12 months, schedule an appointment shortly after their first birthday.
