Are Braces or Clear aligners more effective?

Both clear aligners and braces were effective in treating malocclusion. Clear aligners had an advantage in the segmented movement of teeth and shortened treatment duration, but were not as effective as braces in producing adequate occlusal contacts, controlling teeth torque, and retention but in certain cases, clear aligners maybe even more effective than braces, due to the all-around force of the aligners across the whole tooth. In general, orthodontic treatment using clear aligners is faster than with traditional braces.

Clear aligners are significantly less painful than metal braces. Most people report discomfort for the first few days of wearing the trays and some tenderness, but when compared to the agony of metal braces, Invisalign wins by being less painful. One of the pains of braces comes with eating.

Clear aligners are a solution for patients seeking a more discreet orthodontic treatment than conventional braces, as they do not use brackets or wires. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign are invisible and easier to use. Since these are premium braces, they come with a premium cost as compared to conventional braces.

Ultimately, the choice of solution depends on one’s personal preferences and requirements of the treatment. Our dentists at Smile Centre can help you choose the best option for your dental needs and implement it most efficiently and effectively.
