Are the aligners difficult to keep clean?

No. The aligners are fairly simple to keep clean, they can be cleaned with a soft-bristled toothbrush (not the one you use to brush your teeth daily) and cool water to brush off any caked-on food or plaque. Clear liquid soap also can be used to remove any debris or food particles that have accumulated during the day. Non-abrasive toothpaste is also recommended. Rinse thoroughly after brushing. Cleaning instructions are on every bag of new aligners.

Aligners should be cleaned twice daily, typically at the same time that you brush your teeth including morning. The reason behind morning cleaning of the trays is that while sleeping the clear aligners are prone to get attached to the bacteria that can be a harmful situation. We also encourage you to rinse your aligners under lukewarm water every time you take them out to minimize bacteria buildup avoid running them under hot water, as extreme temperatures can warp the plastic.

The best way to ensure a clean set of aligners is to soak the trays daily in either cleaning crystals or a denture cleaner. Never soak your trays in mouthwash or hot water, as they can damage your trays. After soaking, use a spare toothbrush to rid the trays of lingering plaque or food particles.

Note: It is necessary to brush and floss your teeth before wearing the clear aligners. If you wear it without brushing and flossing it will lead to the growth of cavities and other dental issues.
